Year
2011, 2016, 2022: Every 5 to 6 years, an extended survey of persons with unknown activity is conducted. As a consequence, marked increases in the number of commuters and subsequently in the number of persons employed are possible in these years.
Economic activity
Classification of the economic activity NOGA 2008, which is identical to the european NACE Rev. 2 (Level 1 to 4).
By the end of 2017 health care enterprises which offer outpatient and inpatient services have been more accurately assigned to QA Human health services and QB Residential care and social work act. Subsequently these categories show some changes between 2016 and 2017.
Residence permit category
Residence permit category - total
2024: With the adaptation of the definition of the population applicable from 2024 on, for some types of residence permits, the duration of stay is allocated differently between permanent and non-permanent populations, which is why categories were added in 2024. In contrast to the definition valid until 2023, all persons with immigration permits L, F, N and S are assigned to the permanent population from an uninterrupted period of residence of 12 months. Until 2023, persons with N and S residence permits were allocated to the non-permanent population regardless of their length of stay. Further details can be found in the special publication 'Vergleich der Bevölkerungsdefinitionen - Bevölkerungsstand per 31. Dezember 2023' im Statistikportal unter https://www.statistikportal.li/de/themen/bevoelkerung/bevoelkerungsstand
Permanent residents
Since 1st January 2010, persons with a EEA citizenship get on request a permanent resident permit, if the person was resident in Liechtenstein continuously for five years. This includes their family members as well.
