2024: With the adjustment of the population definition valid from 2024, the length of stay for some types of permits will be allocated differently between the permanent and non-permanent population, which is why the number of persons in the non-permanent population will be lower from the 2024 reporting year onwards. In contrast to the definition valid until 2023, all persons with L, F, N and S permits under foreign nationals law will be assigned to the permanent population after 12 months of uninterrupted residence. Until 2023, persons with N and S permits were assigned to the non-permanent population regardless of their length of stay. Further details can be found in the special publication 'Vergleich der Bevölkerungsdefinitionen - Bevölkerungsstand per 31. Dezember 2023' in the statistics portal under https://www.statistikportal.li/de/themen/bevoelkerung/bevoelkerungsstand
