Differences between central government accounts and profit and loss accounts of health care insurance companies occur due to accounting reasons.
Hospitals - Total
The amount of CHF 26.7 Mio. in 2013 includes a reconstruction loan of CHF 3.1 Mio. for the National Hospital in Liechtenstein.
- National Hospital Liechtenstein
The amount of CHF 10.3 Mio. in 2013 includes a reconstruction loan of CHF 3.1 Mio. Until 2018 23% of inpatient care at the national hospital (Liechtensteinisches Landesspital) was financed by the government and 77% by health insurance companies. Since 2018 55% of inpatient care is covered by the government and 45% by the insurance companies.
Premium reductions
Differences between central government accounts and profit and loss accounts of health care insurance companies occur due to accounting reasons. Since 2018 not only the premiums are subsidized but also the expenses for cost sharing.
Health insurance association
From 2013 to 2015 each year CHF 50’000 were held back in order to pre-finance the new tariff for practicing physicians which was introduced in October 2015.
