Key figures of profit and loss accounts
Premiums
Children: Until 2003 children insured outside the general practitioner system, had to pay a maximum of a quarter of premium payments for adults. Since then children up to 16 years are exempted from premium payments. As of 1st January 2017 insured persons can choose an extended insurance, which covers free choice of service providers (those without a compulsory health care insurance contract). Premium incomes from children derive from this choice with a monthly fee of CHF 10.
Cost sharing
2001 - 2003: From 2001 until 2003 only the total cost sharing amount is available, a split by type of insurance or group of persons is not possible. 2001 CHF 5.1 Mio., 2002 CHF 5.2 Mio. and 2003 CHF 5.0 Mio. were payed as cost sharing by insured persons.
2017: As a result of the revision of the Health Insurance Act (LGBl. 2016, No 2) on 1st January 2017, the cost sharing amount for insured persons was raised (details see Metadata Health Insurance Statistics, definitions, cost sharing).
Adolescents: Since 1st January 2017 adolescents are in principle exempted from cost sharing, including the choice of a voluntary higher amount of cost sharing. Values listed in tables are remaining amounts from previous years.
