2014: As from January 1st 2014 the exempt amount of 70% for retirement and disability pensions was dropped. Therefore less premium reductions were paid.
2020: In 2020, the guidelines for receiving premium reductions were adjusted. As a result income limits were legally increased from CHF 45 000 to CHF 65 000 for single persons and from CHF 57 000 to CHF 77 000 for married couples and civil partners. In addition, the subsidy rate was raised to 70% (previously it was between 30% and 60% depending on income and marital status) and is calculated on a straight-line basis up to 15%. In addition, the age of applicants, for whom the parents' acquisition is taken into account, has been lowered (from 17 -25 years to 17-20 years). As a result of these changes, the group of eligible persons has expanded significantly and expenses have increased.
